AGREE/DISAGREE

1. With enough hard work, everyone can achieve his/her dreams.

response-
I disagree, because in a way yes everyone "could" nothings completely IMPOSSIBLE but, i do believe that in certain circumstances some people might not ever be able to reach a dream merely because of situations. maybe its a money issue, that they couldnt be able to have enuogh money to follow their dream. or maybe their mentally incapable, like what if a mentally handicapped persons dream was to be a lawyer, someone with downsyndrome for instance obviously cant be a real lawyer and be succesfull so in a way its not always true that if you "work hard" youll be able to achieve your dream.

2. Money can buy happiness.

response-
I disagree, because though you might be able to finally BUY every material item youve always wanted. your not always happy, it doesnt mean that all your problems are solved, that someone will forgive you for something you did because you have money now, or that youll find someone who really loves you because for one, you might always question if they love you for your money or you, and two money just CANT make you happy.

3. Women have the same opportunities to succeed as men.

response-
I disagree, because our society in this generation puts stereotypes on everything, and we create an image the way we want to see a certain sex, race, or ethnicity. so its not always as easy for a woman to be a president as it is for a man since they've always been thats how people see things.

4. Minorities have the same opportunities to succeed as white people.

response-
I agree, even though in todays world theres still racism, different ethnicities have all been succesful in the same job. their not held back, and its not like people immediatly put them down or turn them away because of their race.

5. A college education is necessary to be successful.

response-
I disagree., some people are born succesful, if you have a celebrity parent you technically dont have to do ANYTHING but be cute and get attention. they dont have to go to college to be an actress because people will consider them allready since they know their parents. so no not everyone is succesful with a college education.

6. Parents should support their children no matter what.

response-
I agree, they should love you for who you are and help you with whatever you want. They should believe in you and since they were your support when you were being raise they should be your support when you decide to raise yourself.

7. People of completely different cultures can have a healthy relationship.

response-
I agree. many people have relationships and communicate and get along and their not fromt he same culture or race. their not gonna not be friends with someone because of a religion and culture.

My Peace Filled Place.

As I get out of the car, the cool sting of the fresh air hits my face. I hear birds chirping. Its different then the city because you don’t hear a lot of cars. If you look out to the pasture filled with peaceful, happy eating horses you’ll see them all moseying around with their swishing tails and noses stuffed into the ground looking for any blade of grass. The sky is always a clear blue, like someone erased the clouds. As I approach my horse to bring him in he stares blankly at me trying to decipher if he should start walking towards me or be lazy and make me walk all the way. He has bits of grass stain on his muzzle and scruffs of dirt on his behind probably from rolling around. As I bring him in I greet him and he delicately eats the apple I brought for him. The loud crunch of his chewing is a comforting, familiar sound. The barn smells like freshly cut sweet hay, and the grains brighten the scent of the room. You hear bangs, and booms from horses kicking the sides of their stall, asking you for treats. The clanking of each hoof step the horse takes is an endless sound you hear. My mothers echoing voice down the long 70 stall barn asks me to come help her make feed bags for the horses, so I scoop some grain for Fontana and hurry down to help my mom. As we scoop and pour the grain sounds like pouring rain hitting the top of a roof as we put it in each bag. We now tack up the anxious, antsy horses scratching their one hoof across the cement to signal that their getting impatient. We walk from the barn to the arena which is always a breezy and winded walk. I on my horse and my sister on the other think its fun to race each other. As my horse runs the air hits my face somewhat stinging it yet soft enough to be enjoyable. You feel like your floating on a cloud as they gallop faster around the edges of the arena. And as I am done riding him and un-tacking him he and I both know what time it is, its time to say goodbye. I walk him to the gate and he turns his head one last time before he runs freely in the pasture again. This place that I’ve known for more then 10 years with all its familiar noises and hundreds of horses from green pasture to green pasture is what I like to call my peace of mind.

Huck Finn Response (Ch. 1 - Ch. 12)

so far in huck finn, alot has happened. HuckleBerry Finn has moved in with widow douglas after inheriting all his money from the treasure find. She has influenced him to wear nicer looking clothes and attend school. But things go bad when JHuck realizes that his dad is back in town, he knows that his pap is probably looking for money and knows that huck has it so he gives all the money to the judge so that his dad cant take it. we soon learn that his dad is an alchoholic whos prooud that he doesnt read or write and he wants huck to not be able to as well. he gets custody of huck and takes him away but that doesnt last long because huck doesnt want to be with his dad so he fakes his death and has the whole town worrying about him. now he's on his own.

i like that its not a boring book that something is always going on. I dislike that they have repetitive quotes like "by and by". I also dont like the way some of the phrases are worded especially jims phrases because i cant understand what they mean. OI dont see how this book compares to of mice and men really untill huck becomes friends with jim and i guess its kind of the same "relationship" how one has a disadvantage how lenny was slow or now how jim doesnt really have any freedom and depends on huck to help him gain it and hucks kind of like goerge because he stays with jim even though he has an option to leave him and make someone else help him or turn him in.
